ACF Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has revealed the club are interested in out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Anderson.
Recent reports have suggested United boss David Moyes is willing to let Anderson leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window as he continues to rebuild the club following the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Anderson, who joined the Red Devils from FC Porto in a deal believed to be worth in the region of €30 million in May 2007, has made just three starts in all competitions for United this season.
The 25-year-old Brazilian has been unused by Moyes following the return of Darren Fletcher and move, whether in January or the summer, seems imminent.
“Anderson is a player who Fiorentina likes and is following, but this certainly applies to many other players,” Prade told Sky Sport Italia.
“Fiorentina are looking a bit, but with very specific requirements. We do not buy just to buy, however, because there is positive feedback from what’s on the pitch and the group is happy.
“If the right opportunity comes, we will seize the moment. But it is useless to talk about an individual name as we have many targets, and many of these have not come out.”
Fiorentina — priced at 17/2o to win at Catania next Sunday — have also been credited with an interest in AC Milan striker Alessandro Matri, Atletico Madrid’s Mario Suarez and Zenit St Petersburg defender Luis Neto.
Defoe ready to move on
Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe believes he has made the right decision to quit the Premier League in favour of joining MLS side Toronto FC, Sky Sports understands.
The England international, 32, will leave North London for North America at the end of February. Upon his arrival for a reported MLS record fee of £6 million, the 32-year-old will earn £90,000-a-week in wages.
After netting 143 goals in two stints at Tottenham, Defoe feels it is finally the right time to leave the club.
“I was there nine years so you can imagine what it’s like. I think everyone knows how I feel about Tottenham,” said Defoe.
“I have had a special relationship with the fans over the years but it’s football and players move on.
“At the age of 31 it is a great opportunity for me and my family.”
Defoe, who rejoined Tottenham from Portsmouth in a deal reportedly worth £15.75 million in January 2009, has tallied 10 goals and three assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for Spurs in 2013/14.
